Pacific - Oceania Introduction
South Pacific region of the world contains both
diverse countries and cultures. Within this area
are a large number of relatively small island groups,
including French Polynesia, Cook, Marshall, Solomon,
Fiji, Micronesia, Tonga, Samoa, and others. The
highest populated country in the South Pacific
is Indonesia, with nearly 200 million. Other countries
include New Guinea, New Zealand, and Australia.
Many of the inhabitants of this region emigrated
from other areas of the world, and have subsequently
shared residence with the local native populations.
